ITEMS OF INTEREST

 

BROCCOLI:  Supplies tightened up this last week. Some growers are gaping and having quality problems.

LEMONS:  With summer demand being higher there is less fruit this year due to drought conditions in the growing areas. Pricing will remain high thru the summer

ORANGES:  There have been some labor issues in growing area causing supplies to tighten..

CELERY::  : Demand exceeds supplies. Most celery is coming out of the Oxnard area. Salinas’s product will be mid June.   

TOMATOES:  Good supplies. We are now receiving 4x5 tomatoes from our suppliers Pinos. California product should begin mid June.

MELONS:  Cantaloupe and Honeydew continue to be a good buy. Quality has been very good..

LETTUCE:  Supplies have improved this last week while Green and Red leaf supplies remain tight.

 

EGGS:  Prices are skyrocketing due to not enough supply and demand high. Due to an outbreak of birdflu in the Midwest, they have had to destroy a lot of flocks.
